OBJECTIVE

The Host provides the first and last impression to our guests. From the moment the guest calls for a reservation, to the time they exit the restaurant after their experience, the host plays one of the most crucial roles in the guest experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Always smile and provide a warm welcome for our guests.
• Answer the phone within three rings
• Take complete reservations (first and last names, phone number, time, size of party, identify special occasions, and any food allergies)
• Entering servers to floor plan in Open Table reservation system
• Come to work properly groomed, in full uniform and prepared to work the entire shift
• Complete all opening and closing procedures
• Ensure host stand is clean and organized at all times
• Attend all daily rally meetings
• Seat guests
• Distribute covers equally among wait staff
• Ensure host stand is stocked with pens, note pads, menus (breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner & desserts)
• Communicate with management when guest issues arise
• Follow all safety and sanitation rules
• Ensure that all guests are satisfied
• Ensure there is at least one person at the host stand at all times

HOST ESSENTIALS

General Knowledge

It is vital that you know the basic facts of Outlet Name and the company history.

Menu Knowledge

It is essential that you have a basic knowledge of the menu. The fundamentals include the type of cuisine we serve and the major sections of the menu.

Example: appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts and average guest check.

Restaurant Knowledge

You must know and understand the various table and positions numbers in the restaurant.

Communication Knowledge

Communicating with guests and your team members is a major part of the host position. You must understand and demonstrate positive communication with all our guests.
