What they need

Yachting New Zealand is looking for an outstanding facilitator and coach developer, in a train-the-trainer capacity, to lead the development of sailing coaches and race official trainers across New Zealand.

This role is not simply about delivering courses. If you are looking for an opportunity to inspire, challenge and support the people who train others, helping them create high-quality, engaging learning experiences for coaches, race officials and sailors then this is the opportunity for you.

This autonomous yet collaborative role enables you to lead the implementation of the Yachting New Zealand Coaching Plan, working through a network of regional coach developers and alongside club coaches across the country. No two days are the same, as you work with a mix of people across a mix of locations as well as our YNZ office. This role gives you the scope to oversee the implementation of the Race Officials Training Plan, developed in partnership with the Race Officials Committee, and support the national and regional trainers who deliver race official education. Ideally based in our Auckland office, but if you reside in another part of NZ we are opening to considering this, appreciating that you will need to get yourself to Auckland a few days a fortnight.

About the Role

This is a train-the-trainer role focused on growing the capability of sailing coaches and race official trainers throughout New Zealand.

·       Lead the implementation of the Yachting New Zealand Coaching Plan.

·       Develop and support a national network of coach developers and facilitators.

·       Design and deliver engaging coach education and development opportunities.

·       Mentor, observe and provide feedback to coaches and trainers.

·       Support clubs and class associations to strengthen their coaching programmes and pathways.

·       Lead the implementation of the Race Officials Training Plan in partnership with the Race Officials subcommittees.

·       Support and develop national and regional race official trainers.

·       Administer the qualification, accreditation and revalidation processes.

·       Promote coaching, race official and sailor development pathways across the sport.

·       Build strong relationships with clubs, class associations and key stakeholders.

About You

You are an exceptional facilitator who can engage, challenge and inspire people to learn and improve. You are organized but also innovative, you love a challenge and seeing results.

You will ideally bring:

·       Proven experience delivering adult learning, facilitation or train-the-trainer programmes.

·       The ability to develop and mentor coaches, facilitators or educators.

·       Coaching qualification and experience

·       Strong sailing knowledge and an understanding of the sailing pathway.

·       Familiarity with junior and youth dinghy sailing, as well as keelboat and adult learning pathways.

·       Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

·       Confidence working with volunteers, clubs and technical experts.

·       Strong organisation and project management skills.

·       Energy, initiative and a genuine passion for helping others succeed.

Why Join Yachting New Zealand?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of coaching and race official development in New Zealand sailing while working with a passionate and committed team.

The role would be primarily based at our Milford/Takapuna office and includes domestic travel, we will consider you working from another location if you can be in the Auckland office a few days a fortnight. Benefits include free parking, an annual health and wellbeing benefit, access to an on-site gym, proximity to the beach and public transport, and the occasional office dog.

Applications

If you are passionate about developing people, creating excellent learning experiences and helping sailing thrive, we would love to hear from you.
