Cobol Developer

About the role

Enhancement and maintenance of client's Core admin system, working closely with other front-end system application teams to ensure end-to-end software lifecycle is robust. The role involves ensuring the Applications Management function is aligned with company strategy, collaborating with business teams to understand and suggest best and efficient solutions to cater to business needs, and analyzing problems to implement appropriate technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Higher Degree in Computer Science and Engineering
• Minimum 7+ years' experience in AS/400, SMART/400 based insurance applications specialized in Life/400, Life/Asia application
• Experience in working with LifeAsia SOAP APIs
• Experience in production and incident support and resolution
• Experience in conceptual and functional business process modeling
• Data Query Language: SQL400
• Database: DB2
• Development: COBOL400, SMART400
• IBM iSeries Control Language
• IBM iSeries Commands
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong coordination skills required to liaise with counterparts within the Company

• Define and document scope changes during the project life cycle
• Collaborate with business teams to understand and suggest best and efficient solutions to cater to business needs
• Analyze problems and implement appropriate technical solutions
• Prepare technical specifications and maintain and document changes
• Conduct Unit/Integration testing and complete assignments within agreed deadlines
• Quality analysis of programs/system before acceptance testing
• Ensure all development and implementation are compliant with IT governance policy
