COBOL Developer

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL on mainframe/linux systems (e.g., IBMz/AIX/Linux OS).
• Write and optimize JCL (Job Control Language)/Shell scripting for batch processing jobs.
• Perform system analysis and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in legacy systems.
• Support system integration and data processing between mainframe and distributed systems.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Maintain technical documentation for programs and system processes.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers to deliver system enhancements.
• Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT).

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL programming.
• Experience with mainframe environments (IBM z/AIX/Linux OS, CICS, DB2).
• Good knowledge of JCL/Shell scripting and batch job processing.
• Familiarity with SQL and database management (DB2 preferred).
• Experience in debugging and performance tuning of legacy applications.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with legacy systems and modern integration tools.
