Cobol Programmer

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the bank's core banking application
• Analysing requirements and writing functional and technical specifications
• Developing to those specifications in COBOL, SQL, SPL, shell scripting (sh/ksh) and Python
• Carrying out and documenting unit tests
• Supporting user acceptance testing
• Provide production support for the core banking application

Requirements

• A degree in computer science or IT, or proven experience in software development
• COBOL development experience
• Knowledge of AIX and Windows environments
• Database experience with Informix and/or Oracle
• Banking or financial services knowledge (a plus)
• A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
• Strong communication skills
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
