Better Start Tuition is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Coding Club Instructor to deliver our exciting Minecraft and Roblox Coding Club in Radyr.

Our Coding Club gives children the opportunity to develop real coding and game-design skills through platforms they already know and enjoy. Students create their own projects, solve problems, experiment with ideas and learn how to turn their creativity into playable games and experiences.

We are looking for someone who is confident using Minecraft and Roblox and who enjoys working with children. You don't need to be an experienced classroom teacher or professional programmer — we're looking for someone who can combine strong practical knowledge of the platforms with the ability to explain things clearly and encourage children to explore and create.

The Role

You will lead small-group Coding Club sessions, supporting children with different ages, abilities and levels of experience.

Sessions will involve helping children to develop projects using Minecraft and/or Roblox, including:

Minecraft

• Creating custom blocks and items
• Minecraft modding
• Custom textures and gameplay features
• Mobs and NPCs
• Potions and special abilities
• Custom ores and dimensions
• World events and structures
• Teleportation systems
• Advanced scripting and game mechanics

Roblox

• Roblox Studio
• Game and world design
• Scripting
• Physics and player interactions
• Doors, lights and rewards
• Teleports and checkpoints
• NPCs and enemy behaviour
• Scoring systems
• Animations
• Weather and environmental effects
• Sound and special effects

The programme is topic-based and flexible, allowing students to work at a level appropriate to their experience. This means you may be supporting a complete beginner with their first project while helping another student develop more advanced scripting or game mechanics.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

• Has strong practical knowledge of Minecraft and Roblox
• Is comfortable using Minecraft modding tools and/or Roblox Studio
• Has an understanding of coding, scripting or game development
• Can explain technical ideas in a simple and engaging way
• Enjoys working with children and encouraging their creativity
• Is patient, friendly and approachable
• Can provide individual support and adapt to different abilities
• Is confident troubleshooting problems and helping children work through challenges
• Can encourage children to experiment, make mistakes and find their own solutions
• Is reliable, organised and enthusiastic

Teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Experience working with children, tutoring, youth groups, gaming clubs or similar settings would be an advantage.

Essential

• Strong knowledge of Minecraft and Roblox
• Ability to use and navigate the relevant platforms confidently
• Ability to work with children aged 6–16
• Good communication skills
• Reliable and professional approach
• Appropriate safeguarding requirements for working with children

Desirable

• Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring children
• Experience with Minecraft modding/MCreator
• Experience with Roblox Studio and Lua/Luau scripting
• Coding or programming experience
• Game-design experience
• Computing or technology-related qualifications
