Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Coffee Barista to prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and other drinks. The ideal candidate should understand coffee preparation techniques, know how to operate coffee-making equipment, and provide excellent customer service.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, Americano, macchiato, and mocha.
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, milk frothers, and other beverage preparation equipment.
• Grind coffee beans, measure ingredients, extract espresso shots, and steam or froth milk to the required standard.
• Prepare teas, hot chocolate, iced coffee, smoothies, and other beverages on the menu as required.
• Take customer orders accurately and process payments when required.
• Recommend coffee blends, beverages, and menu options based on customer preferences.
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, presentation, taste, and serving temperature.
• Keep the coffee bar, counters, equipment, utensils, and work areas clean and organized.
• Monitor coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies and report low stock levels.
• Assist with inventory checks and minimize ingredient waste.
• Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and beverage preparation standards.
• Provide friendly and professional service and respond appropriately to customer enquiries or complaints.
• Clean and maintain coffee machines and other equipment according to operating procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Support daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures where required.
• Work with other café staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.

Requirements:

• Minimum of an SSCE or relevant training in hospitality or food and beverage service is an advantage.
• Proven years of experience as a barista or in a similar café, restaurant, or hospitality role.
• Good knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and espresso-based beverages.
• Ability to operate espresso machines, grinders, and milk-frothing equipment.
• Knowledge of different coffee beans, brewing methods, and beverage presentation.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good numerical skills and ability to handle cash or POS transactions when required.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality.
• Good hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple orders.
• Strong teamwork, reliability, and time-management skills.
• Friendly, professional, and presentable attitude.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
• Barista training or certification is an added advantage.
