Cohesity Engineer

Location: India or Costa Rica

CMK Resources is looking for an experienced Senior Cohesity Architect / Engineer to support our partner within a large-scale enterprise infrastructure environment.

This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on Cohesity platform architecture, administration, cloud migrations, disaster recovery, ransomware resilience, and overall backup infrastructure optimization.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience designing, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise Cohesity environments, along with strong AWS cloud infrastructure knowledge. This individual will play a critical role in assessing the existing environment, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance scalability, performance, security, and recovery capabilities.

We are looking for someone who can operate independently, provide technical recommendations, and take ownership of complex infrastructure initiatives.

What You Will Be Doing

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for enterprise Cohesity backup and recovery infrastructure, supporting ongoing operations, troubleshooting, and platform improvements.
• Assess and optimize existing Cohesity environments, including physical clusters, Cloud Edition (CE), and Next-Generation Cloud Edition (NGCE) deployments.
• Review backup configurations, protection policies, monitoring, alerting, and operational processes to identify and implement improvements.
• Support the migration of Cohesity Cloud Edition clusters to Next-Generation Cloud Edition, including configuration, workload onboarding, and validation.
• Design, configure, and optimize Cohesity backup and recovery solutions within AWS, including protection of Amazon RDS and other cloud-hosted workloads.
• Evaluate and enhance disaster recovery and ransomware recovery strategies across on-premises and public cloud environments.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot cross-cluster replication, high availability, fault tolerance, and infrastructure resiliency solutions.
• Review recovery objectives, backup retention policies, and restore capabilities to ensure alignment with enterprise recovery requirements.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing, ransomware recovery simulations, and operational readiness exercises, documenting findings and remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, and operations teams to implement Cohesity best practices and improve overall platform reliability.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, recovery runbooks, and infrastructure standards.
• Evaluate opportunities to leverage native Cohesity AI and automation capabilities to improve backup and recovery operations.

What We Are Looking For

• Extensive hands-on experience with Cohesity backup and recovery solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Cohesity cluster architecture, deployment, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cohesity Cloud Edition (CE) and/or Next-Generation Cloud Edition (NGCE) environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure and cloud-based data protection, including EC2, Amazon RDS, networking, and storage.
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and data protection solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Cohesity protection groups, backup policies, retention, replication, and restoration processes.
• Strong understanding of high availability, fault tolerance, resiliency, and disaster recovery architecture.
• Knowledge of ransomware protection and recovery strategies, including immutable backups, recovery validation, and cyber resilience best practices.
• Ability to assess existing infrastructure, identify architectural or operational gaps, and independently implement technical improvements.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Direct experience migrating Cohesity Cloud Edition clusters to NGCE.
• Experience with Cohesity Cloud Protection Service (CCS) and cloud workload migrations.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting cross-region or cross-cluster replication.
• Experience conducting ransomware recovery exercises, disaster recovery simulations, or tabletop exercises.
• Knowledge of native Cohesity AI capabilities and AI-driven backup and recovery automation.
• Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Relevant Cohesity or AWS certifications.
