Collection Officer - Credit Card

About the role

As a Collections Officer, you will play an essential role in managing and recovering overdue payments on credit card accounts. You will help maintain the financial health of the company by proactively contacting customers with delinquent payments, negotiating repayment plans, and ensuring accurate tracking of account status.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage a portfolio of delinquent credit card accounts, identifying overdue payments and prioritizing accounts for follow-up.
• Contact cardholders via phone, email, or written correspondence to remind them of outstanding balances and negotiate payment plans or settlement options.
• Handle inbound inquiries and complaints from cardholders regarding their accounts — including requests for interest waivers, payment hardship, or billing disputes.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all collection activities, payment agreements, customer interactions, account status updates, and follow-up actions in the collections database/system.
• Analyze account history and payment behavior to assess risk, flag high-risk or unresponsive accounts for escalation.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Prior experience, ideally 1–3 years in debt collection, credit/collections, credit-card collections, or related roles preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to engage empathically yet assertively with customers in challenging situations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure or meet defined collection targets and deadlines.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple investigations within stipulated timelines.
