Johannesburg | In-Office | Full-Time

This role follows a 5-day work week, Sunday to Friday, with shifts scheduled between 3:00 PM and 3:00 AM, depending on operational requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Proactively contact clients regarding overdue invoices and outstanding balances.
• Negotiate effectively with clients to secure payments and realistic payment arrangements.
• Manage a portfolio of outstanding accounts and drive consistent debt recovery.
• Follow up on payment commitments, missed payments and broken arrangements.
• Handle difficult conversations, payment objections and disputes professionally and confidently.
• Investigate reasons for non-payment and identify practical solutions to secure recovery.
• Prioritise overdue accounts based on age, outstanding value and recovery potential.
• Identify high-risk accounts and escalate unresolved matters appropriately.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, payment commitments and collection activity.
• Work closely with Billing and Finance to resolve account discrepancies and payment queries.
• Consistently achieve individual collection targets, recovery objectives and productivity standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - NON-NEGOTIABLE

• Minimum 3 years' proven, hands-on experience in debt collections, debt recovery or credit control with direct collection responsibilities.
• Demonstrated success in recovering overdue payments and meeting collection targets.
• Strong negotiation, objection-handling and conflict-resolution skills.
• Confidence handling difficult clients and challenging payment conversations.
• Experience negotiating payment arrangements and following through on commitments.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage high-volume collection portfolios.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using CRM, debt collection or accounting systems.
• A results-driven mindset with the resilience, persistence and discipline needed to deliver consistent recoveries.
