Combo Welder/Fitter

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Combo Welder/Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both welding and fitting tasks to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal structures and components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on construction sites and fabrication shops, utilizing your technical expertise to deliver high-quality craftsmanship in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge, excellent blueprint reading skills, and proficiency with various welding techniques.

Duties

• Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately assemble metal components.
• Perform welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Fit and align metal parts using hand tools, measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and plasma cutters to ensure precise assembly.
• Conduct sheet metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, and shaping metal materials for construction or manufacturing projects.
• Use power tools and machining equipment safely to prepare materials for welding or assembly tasks.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols on construction sites and within fabrication shops to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

Skills

• Extensive construction site experience with the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read mechanical blueprints and interpret shop math for precise fabrication.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication, plasma cutting, machining, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools for quality control.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards.
• Knowledge of AWS standards for welding quality assurance and safety protocol adherence.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
