  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Regional and Yard Managers, Mill Buyers, Operations, Transportation, Accounting, and Quality to resolve issues and ensure efficient material flow
  • Maintain procurement records and compliance, using ERP and scrap-management systems while ensuring purchasing activities meet company, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; travel regularly to maintain supplier and business relationships

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in business development, commodity trading, customer service, scrap buying, procurement, or related experience within the metals recycling, steel manufacturing, or industrial materials industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience in scrap/metals procurement and commercial activities, including market research, commodity forecasting, cost and freight analysis, negotiating commercial agreements, supplier management, and contract administration
  • Experience with ERP and/or scrap management software and working collaboratively within an industrial, manufacturing, or supply chain environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap grades, commodity markets, purchasing practices, and transportation logistics
  • Strong commercial skills, including negotiation, supplier relationship management, contract administration, and sound business decision-making
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across functions
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP and/or scrap management software; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 25%–50% throughout the assigned territory
