What they need

Company Overview

Expert Property Care is a Watford-based insurance repair and property maintenance company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across the Residential, Local Authority, and Property Management sectors. Our mission is to provide exceptional service while maintaining integrity and professionalism at all times.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, organised and commercially minded Commercial Assistant to join our busy and growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play an important role in the day-to-day success of a business.

Working directly with our Commercial Directors, you will support two key areas of the business: Commercial and Finance.

You will join an established team of Commercial Assistants, Auditors and Schedulers, working collaboratively to ensure that our claims progress efficiently, invoicing opportunities are maximised, cash flow is maintained and our internal business functions run smoothly.

No two days will be the same! While you will have your own areas of responsibility, we are looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive and happy to get involved wherever support is needed.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Sales Invoicing

  • Work closely with our Auditing and Operations teams to progress jobs through to invoicing.
  • Raise and issue sales invoices accurately and promptly through client portals and email.
  • Proactively chase client authorisations and resolve outstanding queries.
  • Monitor work in progress (WIP), ensuring claims are progressing in line with agreed timescales.
  • Identify opportunities for interim invoicing and support the achievement of monthly revenue targets.
  • Work alongside the Commercial Directors to monitor invoicing performance and maintain profitability.
  • Liaise with internal teams to resolve delays and keep claims moving.

Forecasting & Revenue Management

  • Maintain and regularly update monthly revenue forecasts.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure forecast completion dates remain accurate.
  • Identify additional invoicing opportunities and highlight potential risks to revenue.
  • Support the Commercial Directors in achieving monthly invoicing and collection targets.

Finance & Credit Control

  • Manage credit control activities, proactively chasing outstanding client payments.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients to support timely payment.
  • Allocate incoming payments and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Monitor remittances and provide regular cash collection updates to Directors.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and monthly collection budgets.
  • Coordinate outgoing payments in accordance with internal approval procedures.
  • Handle incoming finance calls and respond to subcontractor and supplier queries.

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, enthusiastic and enjoys taking ownership of their work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative, finance, commercial or accounts-related role.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with numbers, spreadsheets and financial information.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy working environment.
  • Confidence communicating with clients, suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to support different areas of the business.

Experience in credit control, invoicing, forecasting or the construction/property services industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Above all, we are looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn and develop.

What We Offer

  • Competitive starting salary of £30,000 – £34,000, depending on experience.
  • 29 days' annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • A varied and interesting role with exposure to multiple areas of the business.
  • The opportunity to work directly with senior management and contribute to key business decisions.
  • A supportive, collaborative team environment.
  • Opportunities to develop your commercial and financial knowledge.
  • Flexibility to discuss one day working from home per week following successful completion of probation.
  • Consideration of a four-day working week, with salary and holiday entitlement adjusted accordingly.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a traditional administration role.

You will be joining a team at the heart of the business, playing a direct part in driving revenue, supporting cash flow, improving operational performance and helping the business achieve its goals.

We value people who take initiative, enjoy a challenge and want to make a genuine difference.

If you're looking for a role where your contribution matters, your days are varied and you have the opportunity to develop your skills across Commercial and Finance we'd love to hear from you!
