Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including buses and paratransit vehicles, to transport passengers such as students, seniors, or individuals with special needs. Your primary focus will be ensuring passenger safety, adhering to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vans in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies
• Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and provide wheelchair assistance to ensure comfort and safety
• Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and respond promptly to traffic changes or road hazards
• Maintain passenger discipline and manage behavior effectively while ensuring a respectful environment
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety standards are met and report any mechanical issues promptly
• Communicate clearly with passengers using effective communication skills, including multilingual capabilities if applicable
• Adhere to all vehicle codes, traffic laws, and transportation safety regulations while providing excellent customer service

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus driving and passenger transport
• Proven experience working with children or seniors in a transportation setting is preferred
• 2 years experience
• Knowledge of school policy, student discipline, behavior management, and passenger safety protocols
• Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and quick response to traffic changes
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment as needed
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus
• Understanding of transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels for commercial driving laws
• Ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations and follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents
• Excellent writing skills for completing reports, logs, and documentation accurately

Pay: $1,600.00 - $1,800.00 per week
