Commercial Head

• Core Responsibilities

  A. Commercial & Post-Contract Management

  • Provide strategic leadership for all post-contract commercial activities • Oversee variations, claims, EOTs, commercial negotiations, and dispute avoidance • Approve commercial strategies, settlements, and final accounts • Ensure alignment between site execution, planning, and commercial outcomes

  B. Cost Control & Financial Governance

  • Oversee project cost control systems, budgets, forecasts, and cash flows • Review monthly cost reports, CVRs, and project financial performance • Ensure early identification of risks, overruns, and mitigation measures

  C. Contract Administration & Tender Support

  • Oversee tender document review, contractual risk assessment, and tender clarifications • Approve contractual positions for LOA, main contracts, and subcontract agreements • Ensure contracts are executed in line with approved commercial and legal positions

  D. Legal Oversight

  • Oversee legal counsel activities related to disputes, claims, notices, and litigation • Review contractual correspondence with legal implications • Support management in dispute resolution and arbitration strategies

  E. Leadership & Governance

  • Establish policies, procedures, and commercial controls • Mentor senior commercial, contract, and cost control staff • Act as the final escalation authority for commercial and contractual matters

  Outputs / Deliverables

  • Commercial strategies and governance frameworks • Approved contract and subcontract agreements • Variations, claims and dispute resolution outcomes • Executive financial and commercial performance reports • Cost control and CVR oversight deliverables • Legal and compliance documentation and positions

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Law / Finance (preferred) • Advanced commercial or contract certification beneficial (RICS, AACEI, Arbitration etc.)

  Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in commercial, contract and cost control domain within EPC/Contracting • Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-disciplinary commercial functions • GCC/Middle East experience preferred for contract standards (FIDIC etc.)

  Technical Competencies

  • Post-contract commercial management • Claims, variations, EOTs and dispute resolution • Contract administration and legal correspondence • Cost control, CVR and financial planning
  • Risk assessment and commercial governance • Strong understanding of standard contract forms (FIDIC etc.)

  Behavioural Competencies

  • Strategic leadership and commercial judgment • Negotiation and executive stakeholder influence • High level analytical and financial acumen • Risk awareness and escalation maturity • Team development and capability building

  Final Accountability

  Ensure commercial governance, contractual risk mitigation and profitable financial outcomes across all projects through strategic oversight of commercial, legal, contract administration and cost control functions.
