Commercial HVAC Service Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Manager with a valid North Carolina HVAC license to lead our service team and oversee commercial job sites throughout the Triad. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing HVAC technicians, coordinating daily field operations, ensuring quality workmanship, and keeping jobs on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support commercial HVAC service technicians across multiple job sites.
• Schedule and assign service calls, preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacement projects.
• Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress, inspect workmanship, resolve technical issues, and reinforce safe work practices.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for commercial heating, cooling, ventilation, and control systems.
• Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and site access to keep work moving efficiently.
• Communicate with customers, property managers, general contractors, and vendors regarding scope, schedules, progress, and service concerns.
• Prepare or review estimates, repair recommendations, material orders, and change orders.
• Monitor labor hours, job costs, productivity, and callbacks to improve service quality and profitability.
• Ensure work complies with applicable codes, permit requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.
• Train, coach, and evaluate technicians; identify development needs and help recruit qualified team members.
• Maintain accurate service records, job documentation, safety reports, and closeout information.
• Coordinate emergency service coverage and participate in after-hours support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina HVAC contractor license appropriate to the company’s commercial work.
• At least five years of commercial HVAC service experience, including two years in a supervisory, service management, or field leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience with rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, ventilation equipment, and commercial controls.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and service manuals.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technicians, prioritize competing demands, and oversee multiple job sites.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Triad.
• EPA Section 608 certification appropriate to the equipment serviced.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with chillers, boilers, building automation systems, and larger commercial mechanical systems.
• Experience managing service department budgets, maintenance agreements, and performance goals.
• Familiarity with field service management and estimating software.
• OSHA safety training.

Work Environment

This position combines office coordination with regular field visits to commercial facilities, rooftops, and mechanical rooms. Duties may involve climbing ladders, working outdoors, and accessing equipment in confined or elevated areas. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
