For a commercial litigator who wants to work on complex, high-stakes disputes while developing specialist expertise in insurance coverage, this is an opportunity to consider.
The practice and team
The team handles sophisticated disputes requiring detailed legal analysis, strategic thinking and a tailored approach to each stage of litigation. Its work spans commercial litigation, insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, giving associates exposure to matters that go beyond routine case management.
You’ll work closely with experienced partners and clients, contributing to case strategy and substantive legal work while building your own expertise within a collaborative practice. The wider platform offers access to the resources and reach of an international law firm, alongside the opportunity to develop within a specialist litigation team.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing complex commercial litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
- Drafting substantive briefs, pleadings, motions, memoranda and case analyses.
- Managing written and document discovery, preparing for and conducting depositions, and working with expert witnesses.
- Engaging directly with clients, opposing counsel and other key stakeholders.
- Analysing complex insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including preparing coverage opinions and related assessments.
Who they’re looking for
- 4–6 years of complex litigation experience.
- Strong legal writing, analytical and case management skills.
- Experience handling substantive litigation matters and communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel.
- New Jersey Bar admission in good standing.
- Insurance coverage experience is advantageous, but strong commercial litigators with a genuine interest in developing in this area will also be considered.
Why consider this move?
- Work that develops your expertise. Handle complex commercial disputes alongside sophisticated insurance coverage and extra-contractual matters, building a broader and more specialised litigation skill set.
- More than research and drafting. Get involved throughout the litigation lifecycle, from case strategy and discovery through depositions, motions, trial and appeal.
- Closer to the client and the strategy. Work with partners, clients, experts and opposing counsel, developing the judgment and communication skills needed to progress as a litigator.
- A sophisticated team with international resources. Join an established litigation practice with the wider platform to support complex, high-stakes disputes.
- A competitive financial package. Salary of $275,000–$300,000, depending on experience and location, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
For the right associate, the appeal is the combination of complex commercial litigation, specialist coverage work and close collaboration with experienced litigators.
