Job Description

ProHunters is seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity in Austin, TX.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining commercial refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in units, refrigerated display cases, ice machines, and beverage systems.

This position requires a skilled, dependable technician who can work independently, efficiently diagnose equipment issues, and provide excellent customer service. Technicians will service customers throughout the local Austin area, with support from dispatch and service management.

A company service truck will be provided. Participation in a scheduled rotating on-call program is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems.
• Service walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in units, refrigerated display cases, ice machines, and beverage systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, system inspections, and equipment diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot and repair compressors, motors, electrical components, and refrigeration controls.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, and handling in accordance with EPA regulations.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures and perform necessary repairs.
• Perform brazing, soldering, and refrigerant line repairs as needed.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Respond to emergency service calls during assigned rotating on-call shifts.
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with customers and dispatch.
• Follow company safety procedures and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on commercial refrigeration service experience — REQUIRED.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification — REQUIRED.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record — REQUIRED.
• Strong experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Working knowledge of refrigeration systems, compressors, electrical components, refrigerant recovery, and controls.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability and willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical training or certification in Commercial Refrigeration or HVAC/R.
• Experience servicing a wide variety of commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Proficiency in brazing, soldering, and advanced refrigeration diagnostics.
• Experience troubleshooting refrigeration controls and electrical systems.

Compensation & Benefits

• $35.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
