What they need

Peoples First Insurance, in Rock Hill , SC, is looking for a motivated Commercial Risk Advisor to grow our presence across North Carolina and South Carolina market. As an independent broker not owned by private equity or a public company, we replace the traditional sales approach with a disciplined, year-round approach to risk management. We have a rich 100+ year history in the SC & NC footprint. In this role, you'll own the full advisory relationship: understanding a client's business, assessing their risk profile, designing coverage that actually fits, and staying engaged well past the renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop new commercial insurance relationships throughout the greater Charlotte and York County, SC market
  • Lead clients through a strategic discovery process, understanding their business goals, growth trajectory, and risk tolerance, not just their current policy deck
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments using a systematic, quantifiable approach to surface exposures other brokers often miss
  • Design integrated insurance and risk management strategies tailored to each client's industry, including general liability, property, workers' compensation, commercial auto, and umbrella coverage
  • Partner with carrier underwriters to quote, bind, and place coverage that fits each client's needs and budget
  • Provide ongoing optimization by monitoring claims trends, market conditions, and each client's evolving risk profile well after the policy is bound
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure timely renewals, endorsements, and service requests

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in commercial insurance sales, underwriting, or risk advisory strongly preferred
  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license in South Carolina and/or North Carolina, or ability to obtain one
  • Strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage a book of business independently
  • A mindset that treats insurance as strategy, not a commodity, and clients as people, not policy numbers
  • Familiarity with the Charlotte metro and York County business community is a plus

What We Offer

  • For advisors who already have an existing book of business, the option to have it purchased as part of your transition to our team
  • A culture that invests in the whole person, not just the employee, with real support for your growth beyond the job
  • Generous commission compared to industry standards, with a negotiable starting salary
  • 401(k) and health insurance
  • Flexible PTO
  • Company-paid gym membership
  • Sales training and ongoing career development
  • Personal finance & money management education & training
