What they need

About ZipGrow

ZipGrow is a Canadian manufacturer of innovative vertical farming systems used around the world. We design and manufacture hydroponic growing solutions for commercial farms, educational institutions, and other organizations.

We're looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined individual to join our team and help build and install our commercial farming systems, including ZipPods (container farms) and ZipFarms (indoor farming systems).

This is primarily a construction and assembly position, not a traditional warehouse role. The ideal candidate enjoys building things, can confidently use power tools, and has practical experience in construction, carpentry, fabrication, or a similar hands-on trade.

Key Responsibilities

Construction & Assembly (Primary Focus)

  • Build and assemble commercial hydroponic farming systems, including container farms and indoor growing systems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to construct and install components.
  • Assemble structural framing, mounting systems, growing equipment, and other mechanical components.
  • Follow technical drawings, measurements, and assembly instructions.
  • Troubleshoot basic assembly and installation challenges.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality.

Installation & Travel

  • Assist with installations of ZipGrow systems at customer locations.
  • Travel within Canada and potentially internationally for installation projects.
  • Work with team members and contractors to complete installations efficiently.

Warehouse & General Operations (Secondary Responsibilities)

  • Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
  • Receive and organize inventory, materials, and supplies.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and preparing equipment for delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
  • Support other production and warehouse activities as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Practical experience in construction, carpentry, assembly, fabrication, or a similar hands-on field.
  • Confident using power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, take accurate measurements, and work independently.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working on your feet.
  • Reliability, a positive attitude, and willingness to assist with different projects.

Preferred:

  • Experience reading construction drawings or technical plans.
  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical assembly, or mechanical installations.
  • Experience building or fitting out containers, modular structures, or industrial equipment.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for installations.
  • Forklift or other equipment operation experience.

What We Offer

  • Full-time employment with consistent weekday hours.
  • Opportunity to work on unique construction and agricultural technology projects.
  • Variety in daily work, from commercial system builds to customer installations.
  • Opportunities to develop new technical skills.
  • A collaborative, small-team work environment.
  • Employee benefits and professional development opportunities.
