Commercial Upholsterer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Upholsterer to join our skilled production team. This hands-on role is ideal for a quality-focused tradesperson who takes pride in producing durable, well-finished work for commercial environments. You will work across a variety of projects, from preparing frames and cutting materials to final assembly and quality inspection.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, cut, sew and fit fabrics, vinyl, leather and foam to commercial furniture and fittings.
• Strip and rebuild existing upholstered items as required.
• Prepare, repair and assemble frames, webbing, springs and cushioning.
• Read job specifications, drawings and work orders accurately.
• Operate sewing machines, cutting equipment, hand tools and pneumatic tools safely.
• Complete work to agreed quality standards and production timeframes.
• Identify material or construction issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.

About you

• Demonstrated experience in commercial upholstery or a closely related trade.
• Strong cutting, sewing, fitting and finishing skills.
• Sound knowledge of upholstery materials, tools and construction methods.
• Excellent attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Relevant trade qualifications are desirable but not essential where equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
