Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to commercial chain link fencing projects.
• Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Analyze material requirements from blueprints and technical drawings to accurately determine quantities and costs.
• Conduct material cost estimating, including pricing negotiations with suppliers and vendors to secure the best value.
• Manage project budgets by developing comprehensive estimates that incorporate labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and subcontractors to discuss project scope, clarify specifications, and negotiate terms effectively.
• Review contracts and project bids thoroughly to ensure accuracy and competitiveness while maintaining profit margins.
• Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by tracking expenditures against estimates using spreadsheets and construction management software.
• Interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately to ensure all estimation details align with project requirements.
• Support project management efforts by providing detailed estimates that facilitate scheduling, resource allocation, and procurement planning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry, specifically in fencing or related trades.
• Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or similar tools; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
• Excellent blueprint reading skills and with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
• Solid understanding of material cost estimating and pricing strategies for commercial projects.
• Demonstrated ability in negotiation with suppliers, vendors, and clients to achieve favorable terms.
• Experience in managing construction project budgets from initial estimate through completion with a focus on cost control.
• Knowledge of contracts, project management principles, and construction site safety practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for creating spreadsheets and detailed reports.
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
• Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand on-the-ground realities influencing estimates.

Pay: $54,702.40 - $65,876.16 per year
