Job Description

Manifest Hospitality is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commis 2 Chef to join the kitchen team at our Italian restaurant in Colaba, Mumbai.

The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of professional kitchen operations, a passion for Italian cuisine, and a willingness to learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs. The candidate will assist with food preparation, mise en place, and daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking Italian dishes as per the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
• Carry out daily mise en place, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and portioning food items.
• Assist with the preparation of pasta, sauces, pizza toppings, salads, and other Italian dishes.
• Support Commis 1, Chef de Partie, and senior chefs during kitchen operations.
• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the assigned kitchen section.
• Follow food safety standards and kitchen standard operating procedures.
• Ensure correct portioning and minimise food wastage.
• Keep kitchen equipment, workstations, and utensils clean and organised.
• Assist with stock checks and ensure ingredients are available for service.
• Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely food preparation.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and continuously improve culinary skills.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Interest in Italian cuisine, including pasta, sauces, pizza, and food preparation.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Good teamwork, discipline, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and take direction from senior chefs.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
