Commi Chef - Shiki

Join the team at Shiki Japanese Restaurant! We're seeking passionate and enthusiastic hospitality professionals to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. Enjoy a part-time role with a guaranteed minimum 20 hours per week, while being part of a team renowned for authentic Japanese cuisine, outstanding service, and carer growth opportunities.

Your Day to Day:

• Assist in the preparation and production of high-quality dishes across the kitchen.
• Taking ownership for your workstation – keeping on top of supplies, equipment and waste ensuring mise en place and service requirements are met.
• Being cleaner than clean to meet or exceed local cleanliness and HACCP requirements.
• Work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and consistency
• Contribute to menu development, daily specials and new dish ideas
• Collaborate with the demi chef, Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations

 

What We need from you:

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to manage a section independently or with minimal supervision
• A passion for food, quality, and continuous learning
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure during busy service periods
• The flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday shifts
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
