Job Requirements

The Comminution Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the crushing, grinding and ore handling circuits within the Snowy River Processing Plant.

Working closely with the Processing Supervisor, Metallurgical Team and Maintenance personnel, this role is critical to ensuring ore is processed safely and efficiently to achieve throughput, recovery and operational targets. The Comminution Operator monitors plant performance, conducts inspections, responds to operational issues and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate crushing, screening, conveying and grinding circuits in accordance with operating procedures and production requirements.
• Monitor plant performance to ensure throughput, utilisation and operational targets are achieved.
• Conduct routine inspections of crushers, screens, conveyors, mills, pumps and associated infrastructure.
• Monitor process parameters and respond appropriately to changing plant conditions.
• Identify and report equipment faults, process upsets and operational hazards.
• Assist with crusher and mill change-outs, shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Complete operational sampling and inspection tasks as required.
• Monitor ore feed rates, crusher performance and grinding efficiency.
• Assist in maintaining optimal circuit performance through adherence to operating procedures and metallurgical guidance.
• Maintain effective communication with the control room, processing team and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the processing facility.
• Support plant commissioning, optimisation and continuous improvement activities.

About You

• Previous experience operating fixed plant equipment within a mining or mineral processing environment.
• Experience with crushing, grinding or ore handling circuits.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Sound mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to identify operational issues and respond appropriately.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic processing environment.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
• Current Driver Licence.

Highly Regarded

• Previous gold processing plant experience.
• Experience operating SAG mills, ball mills, crushers and associated comminution equipment.
• Exposure to process control systems and SCADA platforms.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Confined Space certification.
• Experience commissioning or ramping up new processing facilities.
• Forklift, Loader or Mobile Plant competency.
• Exposure to flotation, gravity recovery or dewatering circuits.
