Job Description

Manifest Hospitality is looking for a passionate and dedicated Commis 1 Chef to join the kitchen team at our Italian restaurant in Colaba, Mumbai. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in Italian cuisine, a good understanding of kitchen operations, and the ability to maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Italian dishes according to the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations.
• Handle mise en place, including preparation of vegetables, sauces, pasta, pizza ingredients, and other kitchen requirements.
• Ensure consistency in taste, portion sizes, plating, and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the assigned kitchen section.
• Follow food safety standards and proper storage procedures.
• Monitor ingredient freshness and minimise food wastage.
• Ensure smooth coordination with other kitchen team members during service.
• Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and receiving kitchen supplies.
• Follow all standard operating procedures and instructions from senior chefs.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen; Italian cuisine experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Italian cooking techniques, pasta preparation, sauces, and food presentation.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Good teamwork, discipline, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the culinary team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
