Commis 2 / Assistant Cook

Tazeen Restaurant is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated individuals to join our pre-opening team as Commis 2 / Assistant Cook at Kulim Avenue, Kedah, specializing in Northern Indian Mughlai & Malay cuisine. We are seeking culinary team members with basic kitchen experience who are passionate about cooking and eager to further develop their skills in the hospitality industry.

As a Commis 2 / Assistant Cook, you will assist senior chefs in food preparation and cooking while ensuring food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and hygiene standards are maintained throughout daily kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and assist in cooking dishes according to recipes and kitchen standards
• Support the senior chefs during daily kitchen operations
• Perform basic cooking duties such as grilling, frying, boiling, cutting, and food preparation
• Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and quality of food before service
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment
• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and handling of ingredients
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen SOPs at all times
• Assist in checking and organizing kitchen stock and supplies
• Assist in ensuring smooth and timely kitchen operations during service periods
• Assist management and the culinary team during pre-opening kitchen setup and preparations

Requirements

• Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent
• Preferably 1–2 years of kitchen or culinary experience in a restaurant, hotel, or F&B environment
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Responsible, disciplined, and hardworking
• Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Able to travel to or relocate to Kulim, Kedah

Pay: From RM1,900.00 per month
