Commis (Baker)

JOB BRIEF

• The Commis (Baker) is responsible for supporting the bakery team in preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods in accordance with established recipes and hotel standards. This role ensures cleanliness, food safety, and efficient kitchen operations while assisting senior bakers in delivering fresh and consistent products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and bake breads, pastries, cakes, and other bakery products according to standard recipes and quality standards.
• Measure ingredients accurately and operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in the bakery at all times.
• Monitor inventory, practice proper stock rotation (FIFO), and assist in receiving and storing supplies.
• Minimize food waste through proper handling, storage, and portion control.
• Support senior bakers with daily production and other bakery operations as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, or a related vocational course is preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in a bakery, hotel, restaurant, or commercial baking environment.
• Knowledge of baking techniques, bread and pastry production, and food safety standards.
• Ability to operate bakery equipment and follow standard recipes with accuracy.
• Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
