About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Commis to join the kitchen team at INTERACTIVE MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE. This is a full-time position based in Tagaytay City, Cavite. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting our culinary operations, assisting in food preparation and helping to maintain the high standards of quality and hygiene that our establishment is known for. This entry-level kitchen position is essential to the smooth running of our kitchen and provides an excellent foundation for career progression within the hospitality industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and slicing vegetables, fruits and meats
• Assist senior kitchen staff with the preparation of dishes and meals according to established recipes and standards
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers and food processors
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of assigned work stations and kitchen areas in compliance with health and safety regulations
• Wash and sanitise kitchen utensils, cookware and dishes
• Receive and store incoming food deliveries, checking quality and expiration dates
• Assist with basic food plating and presentation as directed by senior chefs
• Support the kitchen team during peak service times to ensure efficient food production
• Follow all food safety protocols and maintain proper hygiene standards at all times
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification

• Proven experience as a Kitchen Hand, Commis or similar entry-level kitchen role (preferred but not essential for motivated candidates)

• Strong understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness

• Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff

• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with a strong work ethic

• Effective teamwork and communication skills

• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
