About the role

Commis chef will be assisting the kitchen team in preparing high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop their culinary skills in a fast paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients & basic cooking
• Follow recipes & portion control guidelines, ensuring consistency in food quality
• Maintain a clean & organized workstation
• Adhere to food safety & hygiene regulations, including HACCP standards
• Ensure proper storage & labelling of ingredients
• Assist in cleaning kitchen equipments, utensils & work areas
• Monitor ingredients levels & inform head chef of any shortages
• Assist in receiving & storing deliveries according to food safety guidelines
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations
• Follow instructions from Head Chef to improve culinary skills

About you

• SPM or STPM. Having Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Preferably having Diploma with 2 years experience in hotels, restaurants or related settings, or SPM/STPM with 3 years in F&B industry.
• Knowledge in food safety regulations & health standards.
• Basic knowledge in food preparation & kitchen operations
• Ability to follow recipes & instructions accurately
• Strong attention to detail & time management skills
• Willingness to learn & adapt in a busy cafe environment
• Good communication & multitasking skill
• Attended Food Handlers Course
• Valid typhoid injection
