About the role

Assist in day-to-day culinary operations and food preparation in a commercial kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning and other basic food preparation duties
• Cook and prepare food according to established recipes, standards and portion requirements
• Ensure food quality, taste, consistency and presentation meet the required standards
• Ensure high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout the assigned kitchen areas at all times
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labelling and food rotation procedures
• Implement controls to minimise food waste and maintain proper portion control
• Assist in monitoring stock levels and ensure ingredients are properly stored and handled
• Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas are properly used, cleaned and maintained
• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Chef or Supervisor

About you

• Must possess at least WSQ Food Safety Level 1 certificate
• Basic knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment and procedures
• Able to work as part of a team
• Knowledge of local, Chinese & halal cuisine will be an added advantage
• Relevant experience in a commercial kitchen or F&B environment will be an advantage
