BUILDING COMMISSIONING CAREERS | ENTRY-LEVEL TO MID-CAREER

Stephen Turner Inc. provides building commissioning services for construction projects across southern New England. We’re seeking people to join our cooperative team, with opportunities ranging from entry-level to mid-career, interested in building systems and building performance. We welcome applicants with commissioning experience as well as those looking to enter the field. Training and mentorship are available.

WHAT THE WORK INVOLVES

For applicants new to commissioning, responsibilities may include:

• Learning construction industry practices and how projects are delivered
• Learning commissioning processes for new and existing buildings
• Developing checklists and forms used to verify building systems
• Reading engineering plans to support commissioning planning and execution
• Visiting project sites to verify construction as it progresses
• Testing and documenting system performance as projects near completion
• Verifying training provided by contractors and engineers

Some tasks become independent responsibilities after initial training; others are performed alongside senior team members. As you gain experience, you can take on greater technical, client-facing, and project management responsibilities. We support that growth through training and continuing education. Team members also contribute to internal efforts that fit their interests and experience, such as business development, technology, and help care for our shared workplace.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for curious, organized self-starters who work well with others and take ownership of their assignments. Successful team members manage their time and deadlines, communicate when they need support, welcome feedback, and bring professionalism to client interactions. This work calls for flexibility: your day may involve focused tasks in the office, collaboration with teammates, or a visit to a project site. Experience in building controls, construction, engineering, building operations, or a related field is helpful, but not required for entry-level applicants. A willingness to learn is essential.
