Commissioning Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test and commission PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal.
• Independently program, commission and troubleshoot Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC systems.
• Commission and troubleshoot Siemens SINAMICS G120 and SINAMICS S120 drive systems.
• Develop and commission Siemens HMI and WinCC SCADA applications.
• Perform control-panel inspection, power-up checks, field wiring verification and complete I/O testing.
• Configure and troubleshoot PROFINET, PROFIBUS and other industrial communication networks.
• Carry out drive parameterisation, motor identification, drive tuning and functional testing.
• Test machine sequences, safety interlocks, permissives, alarms and emergency-stop functions.
• Integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, drives, servo systems, encoders, instruments and field devices.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, automation, communication, drive and machine-control problems during commissioning.
• Modify and troubleshoot legacy Siemens S7-300/S7-400 and existing automation systems during retrofit and modernisation projects.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, machine trials and production stabilisation.
• Prepare commissioning reports, backup programs, parameter records, operating documentation and customer handover documents.
• Provide technical training and operational support to customers and plant personnel.
• Coordinate with electrical design, panel manufacturing, software and mechanical teams during project execution.
• Travel to customer sites across India and abroad for commissioning, breakdown support and project execution. Site assignments within India may normally range from 1 to 15 days.

Mandatory Job Requirements

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
• Three to five years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and machine commissioning.
• Mandatory hands-on programming and site-commissioning experience with Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC.
• Mandatory hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experience with Siemens SINAMICS G120 drives.
• Mandatory hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experience with Siemens SINAMICS S120 drives.
• Proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal, PLC programming, hardware configuration, diagnostics and online troubleshooting.
• Experience in developing or modifying Siemens HMI and WinCC applications.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules and equipment manuals.
• Practical knowledge of digital and analogue I/O, encoders, sensors, field instruments, motors and industrial control panels.
• Working knowledge of PROFINET and PROFIBUS communication.
• Ability to independently perform control-panel power-up, I/O testing, machine-sequence testing and fault diagnosis.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India and abroad for site commissioning assignments.

Preferred Experience

• Siemens S7-300/S7-400 PLC retrofit and migration experience.
• Servo-drive, motion-control and multi-motor synchronisation experience.
• Experience with SINAMICS G130/G150, V90, S200/S210 or SINAMICS DCM/6RA80.
• Experience in machine modernisation, drive retrofits or DC-to-AC conversion projects.
• Commissioning exposure in wire and cable, steel, rolling mills, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, rubber, water treatment, FMCG or special-purpose machinery.
• Experience in complete project execution—from control-panel testing and software development through FAT, site commissioning and customer handover.
