Commissioning Manager

Progesys Inc. is a recognized firm offering complete solutions for project management and transition to operations. The company has been based in Laval (Canada) since 2002 and has offices in the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and South America.

Progesys is looking for a Commissioning Supervisor - Electrical/Instrumentation/Automation to work on a mining project in Ontario. The Commissioning Supervisor will have to ensure in a timely manner the commissioning of installations in respect to the environment and health and safety of the personnel in his discipline.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare project commissioning execution plan including commissioning and start up sequence
• Ensure the commissioning plan is in compliance with the appropriate external regulatory bodies and Progesys systems
• Liaise with construction management, the client and Progesys corporate office to ensure efficient and value-added service
• Work closely with operation teams, construction contractors and management to identify priorities according to commissioning and start up strategy and to align efforts
• Lead and manage the commissioning team in the execution of all activities
• Participate in building commissioning teams and forecast future staffing requirements
• Coordinate and manage contractors and subcontractors activities associated with pre-commissioning and commissioning
• Assist in Operational Readiness Plan and related activities when required
• Coordinate vendor activities and presence at site
• Provide leadership in health, safety and environmental policies enforcement on site ensuring that the commissioning team and other parties comply with the HSE Plan
• Ensure hazard/risk analysis is performed as required
• Provide reporting as required for all phases of the commissioning and start-up of the facility

Requirements

• Technical or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering field.
• At least 15 years of experience supervising commissioning projects in the industrial or mining sector.
• In-depth knowledge of commissioning processes, functional testing, and project management.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and process diagrams.
• Skills in team management and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in project management and activity tracking tools.
