What they need

Client Overview:

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, and building commissioning services for complex, high-performance facilities. With a highly collaborative, people-focused culture, they give employees significant autonomy, opportunities to shape their careers, and the chance to take ownership of meaningful work and client relationships.

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to join their growing commissioning team. This position is based in Boise, ID with the unique opportunity to shape a growing team presence and team here.

This is a key project leadership role for someone who enjoys bringing people, information, and technical details together to deliver successful projects. The right person is a curious problem-solver, trusted client partner, and tenacious finisher who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and creates order across complex projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead commissioning projects from proposal and planning through functional testing, issue resolution, and closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate commissioning engineers, technicians, design teams, contractors, owners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Apply sound technical judgment to evaluate designs, investigate issues, and develop practical solutions.
  • Facilitate productive meetings, clearly communicate findings, and keep decisions and action items moving forward.
  • Build trusted client relationships through responsiveness, accountability, and an understanding of each client’s goals.
  • Mentor team members, share knowledge, and contribute to the continued improvement of our commissioning processes and standards.
  • Support future project opportunities by developing strong, mutually beneficial relationships with clients and industry partners.

What You Bring

  • Five or more years of experience in commissioning, engineering, installation, startup, testing, or operation of building systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, lighting, power, security, laboratory, or other complex building systems.
  • Experience independently managing projects, priorities, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to investigate technical challenges, ask thoughtful questions, and drive issues toward resolution.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to varied audiences.
  • A Mechanical Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months.
  • A commissioning credential such as CCP or BCxP is preferred.

How You Work

You build trust through both character and competence. You listen well, communicate directly, and approach challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy. You are organized without being rigid, decisive without being dismissive, and confident enough to know when to lead, collaborate, or seek additional expertise.

You take responsibility for commitments, follow through reliably, and care about the collective success of the client, project, and team. You are energized by challenging work, willing to dig deeply for the right answer, and motivated to continually strengthen your technical and leadership capabilities.

More about our client:

This team is focused on delivering thoughtful, technically rigorous solutions for complex building systems. Sustainability is central to how they think, engineer, and lead, and their values guide how they serve their clients, support their communities, and work together.

You’ll join a technically strong and supportive team with the opportunity to build a durable career doing meaningful work throughout the Pacific Northwest.
