Commodity Assistant Supervisor

About the role in Leslie Farms, Inc.

This is a hands-on commercial and operations role. You will be out negotiating with bakeries and food manufacturers one day and on the processing floor holding the quality line the next.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and accredit suppliers of surplus and off-specification food materials
• Negotiate price, volume, and delivery terms on a landed-cost-per-kilogram basis, not headline price
• Schedule inbound deliveries and inspect incoming material for volume, moisture, contamination, and spoilage
• Manage storage, FIFO/FEFO rotation, and inventory accuracy in the warehouse
• Supervise daily processing — sorting, de-packaging, size reduction, drying, and shelf-life extension
• Hold accountability for monthly processed volume, conversion yield, and quality conformance
• Enforce GMP, hygiene, and biosecurity standards, and report performance to the Commodity Supervisor

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Food Technology, Animal Science, or a related field
• 2–3 years in procurement, warehousing and logistics, or food/feed processing
• Confidence negotiating with suppliers and the discipline to document what you agree
• Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and feed or food safety practice
• Strong Excel skills and experience with inventory or ERP systems
• Willingness to travel regularly to supplier sites
• Experience with bakery by-products, surplus food recovery, or upcycled feed materials
• HACCP or forklift certification, or completed supervisory training
• Valid driver's license
