Common Area Cleaner

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Common Area Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of shared spaces within our facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all common areas—such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and recreational spaces—are spotless, sanitized, and welcoming for everyone. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a positive environment that reflects our commitment to cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of common areas including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to uphold high standards of cleanliness.
• Handle cleaning chemicals and agents safely in accordance with established safety protocols to ensure a healthy environment for all occupants.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and scrubbers to maintain floors and surfaces in pristine condition.
• Conduct sanitation procedures in restrooms and kitchen areas to meet health standards and promote hygiene.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs or minor repairs to keep facilities in optimal condition.
• Follow safety guidelines for manual handling and heavy lifting to prevent injuries during cleaning tasks.
• Collaborate with team members and report any facility issues or safety hazards promptly to ensure continuous operations.

Requirements

• Proven janitorial or custodial experience with knowledge of commercial or industrial cleaning practices.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment including floor buffers, vacuums, and other custodial tools.
• Ability to handle chemical agents safely while adhering to chemical handling safety procedures.
• Strong manual handling skills with experience in heavy lifting and safe lifting practices.
• Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards, facilities maintenance, and general safety protocols.
• Prior experience in industrial cleaning or porter roles is a plus; residential painting or maintenance skills are beneficial but not required.

Schedule is Friday thru Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
