Our mission is to own and operate a sustainably profitable electricity distribution business which provides a safe, reliable, cost effective and high-quality energy delivery system to our customers.

The Opportunity

The Communications & Digital Content Coordinator is a hands-on role supporting the delivery of clear, timely and engaging communications for our employees, stakeholders and the Wellington community. Working closely with the Communications Lead and Customer Service Manager, you will create, publish and maintain content across our website, intranet, social media and other digital channels.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build Wellington Electricity’s social media presence from the ground up, and shape how we connect with customers and communities across new channels.

You will help bring technical and business information to life through accessible written and visual content, while ensuring communications remain current, accurate and aligned with Wellington Electricity’s brand and approval processes.

What You’ll be Doing

In the Communications & Digital Content Coordinator role with Wellington Electricity, you will:

  • Support day to day communications planning, coordination and delivery.

  • Draft, edit, proofread and format internal and external content for approval.

  • Publish and maintain accurate, accessible and up to date content across our website and intranet.

  • Plan, create and schedule approved social media content across designated channels.

  • Develop engaging visual and digital content, including graphics, photography, short form video and infographics.

  • Monitor website and social media performance and use insights to recommend improvements and produce useful reporting for the business.

  • Support campaigns, engagement events, presentations and customer updates during outages, projects and major events.

  • Build strong relationships with teams across the business, content owners, suppliers and community partners.

About You

We're looking for a creative and organised communications professional who combines strong writing skills with practical digital content experience and sound judgement.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Approximately two or more years’ experience in communications, digital content, marketing or a related role.

  • Practical experience creating and publishing organisational social media content.

  • Experience managing website or intranet content using a content management system or similar tool.

  • Experience using web and social media analytics and preparing clear performance reporting.

  • Strong written communication, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Visual communications experience, including graphic design, photography and short form video.

  • The ability to translate technical, regulatory and business information into clear, audience friendly content.

  • Good organisation, stakeholder engagement and time management skills, with the confidence to seek approval or escalate issues when needed.

  • Experience in electricity, infrastructure, utilities or a regulated sector would be an advantage.

Why Join Us?

  • Up to 10% (of total remuneration) incentive bonus

  • Insurance benefits including Income Protection, Trauma, Life & Terminal Illness cover

  • Annual wellbeing allowance

  • Brand new building and location in Upper Hutt
