What they need

The Department of Geography is seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead the delivery of communications and marketing for the Masters in Conservation Leadership, including the course website, annual report, social media profile and other communications content (e.g. commissioning videos and newsletters). The Masters is a high-profile programme for experienced conservation professionals from around the world, delivered in the David Attenborough Building by the partner organisations in the world-leading Cambridge Conservation Initiative.

The purpose of this role is to manage the dissemination of information regarding the Masters and its alumni to external audiences, to members of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and the wider conservation community, to the alumni network, funders and any other key stakeholders as required. This is to ensure that the Masters receives good quality applications during its annual marketing round, and to ensure that the profile of the Masters is maintained and understood by all of the target interest groups.

The post holder will be based in the David Attenborough Building, home of the Conservation Research Institute.

The successful applicant should be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or an equivalent level of practical experience. They should possess demonstrable social media skills on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and other relevant channels. They should have experience working in communications (e.g. in an NGO or university) coupled with experience of using web content management systems and social media platforms, as well as demonstrate factual and theoretical knowledge of Communications.

Applicants should review the further particulars attached for more details on the role and its responsibilities.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Prof Chris Sandbrook, at [email protected].

If you have any questions about the application process, please email Mrs Alessandra Uomo, HR Coordinator, at [email protected].

Interviews are anticipated to take place on Monday, 16 November 2026.

Please quote reference LC51228 on your application and in any correspondence about this vacancy.
