Communications Director Position Description

· Part-time 15 hours per week

· Hybrid work from home with 3-5 hours per week in Mission Central

Position

· The Director of Communications, in consultation with the Executive Director, plans, directs, and coordinates strategies that enhance the organization’s public image and promotes its mission.

· The Director of Communications oversees media relations, manages social media, and coordinates internal and external communications efforts.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Branding

· Maintain the organization’s identity, including logo, signage, and voice and keep public materials consistent with it.

· Create and implement monthly and annual communication plan

· Develop comprehensive communication plans aligned with organizational goals

Media and External Relations

· Manage website with regular updates and postings for both internal and external viewing – including leading redesign of website in 2027

· Responds to media requests for information about organization’s work, write press releases (3-4 times per year) and media kits

· Coordinate disaster and crisis relief efforts through monetary and material donations

· Build and keep working relationships with media outlets to promote Mission Central’s initiatives and provide community awareness of the organization

· Utilize Google Analytics to inform best practices

Content Creation

· Design publications and signs for events, brochures, annual report, and other publications to promote the organization’s mission.

· Provide content, stories and graphics, and distribute bi-monthly electronically the Mission Link newsletter

Donor and Member Communications

· Partner with Executive Director for development campaign narratives and impact stories

· Develop and implement communication timelines for events and donor/volunteer recognitions

Other Duties: perform other duties as determined by Executive Director

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or a related field is preferred

· Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong problem-solving skills

· Experience in communications field

· Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with Google docs.

· Current PA Driver’s License

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Work is performed in numerous settings, including office, home and public events.

TIMELINE:

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
