What they need

Affordable housing is a complex space. Telling the story of why it matters—and earning the trust of the people who can help move it forward—requires clarity, discipline, and good judgment.

Lhoopa is looking for a Communications Manager who can turn strategy into clear, consistent execution. You’ll help shape how our story is communicated to the media, government stakeholders, investors, industry partners, and the broader housing sector.

This role is for someone who thinks strategically, writes exceptionally well, and knows how to move from an idea to a polished publication, campaign, event, or announcement.

What You’ll Own

Narrative and Content

  • Turn communications priorities into clear monthly and weekly execution plans
  • Lead the development of whitepapers, research studies, impact reports, executive materials, and other major publications
  • Gather and translate input from leadership, data, operations, policy, and other teams into clear and credible content
  • Tailor stories and messages for different audiences, including regulators, investors, media, partners, brokers, and contractors
  • Manage drafts, revisions, approvals, and final delivery with minimal oversight

Brand and Message Consistency

  • Ensure presentations, briefs, statements, and partner materials follow Lhoopa’s brand and narrative
  • Maintain and update key communications resources, including the brand book, templates, and message bank
  • Guide internal teams and external partners on tone, messaging, and design standards

Media and Thought Leadership

  • Identify media and thought-leadership opportunities around company milestones, research, partnerships, and industry developments
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces, talking points, and expert commentary
  • Manage PR agency deliverables and timelines
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with priority journalists
  • Ensure major publications have a clear visibility and amplification plan

Events and Stakeholder Communications

  • Lead communications for stakeholder events, partnerships, speaking engagements, and industry activations
  • Develop speaker briefs and talking points for senior leaders
  • Manage on-site media coordination, documentation, and content capture
  • Produce partnership stories and materials for government, industry, and community initiatives
  • Work closely with Strategy, Operations, and Public Affairs to keep messaging aligned

Issues Management and Reporting

  • Support issues and crisis communications through timely statements, FAQs, escalation logs, and spokesperson materials
  • Maintain communications trackers, media lists, event records, and stakeholder maps
  • Monitor progress against communications priorities and flag risks or delays early
  • Prepare regular performance reports, campaign updates, and post-event or media recaps

What We’re Looking For

  • At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, corporate communications, or a related field
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
  • Strong understanding of media relations and stakeholder communications
  • Experience managing agencies, projects, and cross-functional contributors
  • Strong planning, organization, and follow-through
  • Sound judgment when handling sensitive or time-critical communications
  • Ability to coach and guide junior team members
  • Experience in technology, public policy, real estate, housing, or development is an advantage but not required

What Success Looks Like

  • Lhoopa’s story is communicated clearly and consistently across audiences
  • Major publications, campaigns, and events are delivered to a high standard
  • Media and stakeholder visibility grows in relevant sectors
  • Communications risks are identified and addressed early
  • Internal teams and external partners are aligned on the brand and message
