Title: Technical Communications & Creative Services Specialist

Location: Jackson, MS (100% onsite)

Duration: 12 Months of Contract with Possible Extension

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Communications & Creative Services Specialist to support a cross-functional role serves both the Communications and the IT Division. It combines strategic communications, graphic design, digital media production, technical writing, project coordination, and documentation management to support agency communications initiatives and a large-scale, federally regulated information system implementation.

On the communications side, you will create visual and written materials across print and digital channels, including publications, presentations, informational materials, and digital communications. You will help with communications planning, creative development, and brand consistency, and make sure materials are clear and accessible to internal and external audiences.

On the technology side, you will develop, maintain, and coordinate the technical and project documentation needed for system implementation, operational support, federal funding approval, and ongoing regulatory compliance. You will translate complex systems, processes, and priorities into clear documentation, visual communications, and training materials. You will also work closely with the development team on UX/UI design, so applications are intuitive, easy to navigate, and visually appealing. You will collaborate with communications staff, project managers, business analysts, system architects, developers, QA teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (Information Services, English, Communications, etc.)

7+ years of effective communication, organizational, and time management skills

7+ years of strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills, with an adaptive style for different platforms and audiences

7 years of experience in process optimization and internal documentation

7 years of experience working independently and collaboratively within a team

5 to 7 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital media, or communications

5 to 7 years of experience with: Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Workfront, Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Confluence, Lucidchart, SAP Business Network

Preferred Skills & Experience

5 to 7 years of experience with information systems, cloud technologies, data analysis, or technology implementation projects

5 to 7 years of knowledge of User Experience (UX) design

5 to 7 years of experience with accessibility standards (WCAG)
