WHAT DOES AN AREA REPRESENTATIVE DO?
As an Area Representative, you will:
- Help find welcoming host families in your community for international exchange students.
- Help match students with suitable host families.
- Support your assigned exchange students and their host families throughout the semester or school year.
- Maintain regular contact with students, host families, and schools.
- Help students adjust to American life and have a successful exchange experience.
- Serve as a positive role model, mentor, and local support person.
- Help create unforgettable experiences for students from around the world!
You do NOT have to host an exchange student yourself to become an Area Representative!
If you've always wanted to be involved in international exchange but cannot host a student in your own home, this is a wonderful way to participate!
And if you DO want to host a student while serving as an Area Representative, you can! Hosting is completely optional and subject to program approval.
COMPENSATION & BONUS OPPORTUNITIES
This is a flexible, part-time opportunity that can fit around your current job, family life, or other commitments.
You will receive:
- Compensation for each exchange student you supervise.
- Increased bonus opportunities this year!
- Opportunities to support multiple students and earn additional compensation.
- The flexibility to work around your existing schedule while meeting program responsibilities.
Many Area Representatives begin by placing and supervising one student and eventually expand their involvement to help several students each school year!
Compensation is based on student placements, supervision responsibilities, and applicable program bonus opportunities. This is not a guaranteed hourly or salaried position.
OPPORTUNITIES TO TRAVEL!
Would you love the opportunity to visit iconic destinations throughout the United States?
Area Representatives may have opportunities to volunteer as chaperones on organized exchange student trips to exciting destinations across the country!
For selected chaperone opportunities, your approved travel expenses may be fully covered by the program.
These experiences allow you to help students explore America, create amazing memories, and experience some incredible places yourself!
Chaperone opportunities are based on availability, selection, and program requirements.
YOU WILL HAVE MY SUPPORT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!
As your Area Coordinator, I will be here to help guide you, answer your questions, provide training and support, and help you succeed in your new role.
You will NOT be doing this alone!
I will also be working alongside you to help find host families in your area.
Whether this is your first time working with international exchange students or you have previous experience, I want you to feel confident, supported, and excited about being part of our team!
We are building a team of individuals who genuinely care about helping young people, connecting cultures, and creating positive experiences for students and families.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN OUR TEAM
We are looking for individuals who:
- Are at least 18 years old and can successfully complete a criminal background check.
- Are dependable, responsible, and genuinely interested in helping teenagers.
- Have strong communication skills and enjoy meeting new people.
- Are willing to reach out to community members to help recruit host families.
- Can help find and secure at least ONE approved host family and student placement before June 1, 2027.
- Are willing to maintain regular contact with their assigned students and host families and complete required program documentation.
- Can meet applicable program and U.S. Department of State requirements.
Our goal is for every new Area Representative to help place at least ONE exchange student!
Many of our representatives go on to find several host families, but we are asking you to begin by helping just ONE student find a welcoming American home.
Remember, I will also be helping you recruit host families and supporting you throughout the placement process!
COME BE PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL!
This is more than just a part-time opportunity. It is a chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people from around the world.
You could be the reason a student gets to attend an American high school, celebrate their first Thanksgiving with an American family, experience their first American football game, or build friendships that last a lifetime.
Years from now, that student may look back on their exchange experience and remember the person who helped make it all possible.
THAT PERSON COULD BE YOU!
If you have a passion for helping youth, enjoy meeting new people, and would love to be part of an international cultural exchange program, we would love to have you join our team!
