Community Center Program Aide

The Salvation Army Jasper/Newton County corps located in Joplin, Missouri, is looking for a candidate to assist them in their community center as the new Community Center Program Aide. This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, with a starting pay of $15.50 per hour.

The Salvation Army Jasper/Newton County corps is located at 320 E. 8th St., Joplin, Missouri.

Some of the essential duties for this position include:

• Oversee volunteer and visitors during activities in the community center.
• Enforce rules as necessary.
• Assist in kitchen operations, including processing grocery donations and meal service.
• Assist in leagues, rentals, and other recreational opportunities.
• When necessary, mediate disputes among participants, being sensitive to needs of all parties.
• Set up and take down work and play areas before and after activities.
• Assist in planning community center special events.
• Assist in custodial upkeep throughout the community center.
• Train volunteers and visitors in the care and use of equipment and facilities.
• Maintain and organize all gymnasium supplies and equipment.

This is not an all-inclusive list of the job duties. Employees are expected to perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous work in a community center environment is desirable. Good communication skills. Able to read and write well. Relate well with youth, children, and unhoused persons. Requires basic verbal communications with visitors and other employees. Valid drivers' license required and pass TSA MVR is a plus. Must be able to be certified by American Red Cross (ARC) in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.

Physical and Working Conditions

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties and be able to lift up to 40 pound on a regular basis. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Some work will be outdoors where it will be hot in the summer.
