In September 2016, the Blue Minaret was closed and went through massive upgrading works until March 2019 when it re-opened. During the upgrading period, all activities were carried out at a musolla beside the present site.

It is currently Singapore's lagest mosque with a capacity to hold 5500 people and floor area of 5,910 sq metres.
