What they need

Community Programs Communications Coordinator – Casual

  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Approx. 3 Days per Week
  • Max-Term Casual opportunity to end of 2026
  • Mount Claremont, & metro partner sites as required

We are looking for a practical and capable communications professional to help us communicate important community services in a way that is clear, accessible and easy to act on.

This is not a traditional corporate marketing role.

Our community programs are delivered in partnership with other organisations and at community-based locations. We need someone who can take information about these services and turn it into effective communications that help potential participants, families, partners and other stakeholders understand what is available, who it is for and how to access it.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Working with our program and projects leadership team, you will help develop communications that support awareness, engagement and take-up of community services.

Your work will include:

  • drafting and updating flyers, handouts and other community information materials
  • preparing newsletters and email communications
  • drafting communications for partner organisations and their communities
  • developing clear information for potential clients and participants
  • translating service and program information into plain English, generally around a Year 7 reading level
  • adapting messages for different audiences while keeping information accurate and consistent
  • preparing and improving PowerPoint presentations
  • supporting communications for new services, activities and program changes
  • helping ensure partner organisations have practical, ready-to-use material to promote services within their communities
  • reviewing existing communications and suggesting ways to make them clearer and more engaging
  • travel to partner metro Perth sites, as and when required.

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This role would suit an early-to-mid career communications professional who enjoys making complex or detailed information simple and useful.

You may have experience in communications, community services, health, not-for-profit, education or another service-based environment. More important than the sector is your ability to understand an audience and write for them.

You will need:

  • strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • demonstrated ability to write in clear, accessible plain English
  • the ability to adjust tone and language for community members, potential clients and professional partners
  • good PowerPoint and Microsoft Office skills
  • the ability to turn rough information, program details or discussions with staff into polished communications
  • good judgement about what information an audience needs to know
  • the ability to work independently, manage several small pieces of work and meet deadlines
  • a practical, collaborative approach to working with program teams.

Experience communicating health, community or human services would be highly regarded.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a hands-on role with a very practical purpose: helping people understand and access services that may benefit them.

The position is casual, for up to approximately 15 hours per week across three days, and is expected to continue until the end of the year.

It may particularly suit someone looking for meaningful part-time communications work where they can see the direct connection between good communication, community engagement and service take-up.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

ADHD WA is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from people with disability, neurodivergent people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to thrive.
