Manaakitanga - Make a Real Difference Every Day

A Day in the Life of a Community Support Worker

As a Community Support Worker, no two days are ever the same. You will play a crucial role in supporting disabled individuals to be decision-makers in their own lives. Your day may begin by assisting people with their morning routines, including personal care, medication support, and meal preparation. Throughout the day, you'll provide individualised support tailored to each person's goals and needs, whether that's helping with household tasks, attending appointments, participating community activities, learning new skills, or simply being a trusted source of encouragement and companionship.

You'll work alongside whānau, healthcare professionals, and other support networks to ensure the people you support receive the best possible care. Along the way, you'll monitor wellbeing, maintain accurate records, and respond to changing needs with professionalism and compassion. Most importantly, you'll help people build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their goals, making a genuine difference in their lives every day.

As a Community Support Worker, you'll enjoy a varied and flexible work schedule that reflects the needs of the people we support. Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and weekends, offering opportunities to work around your lifestyle while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities, with rosters designed to provide consistency while meeting the individual needs of the people we support. If you're looking for a rewarding role with variety, flexibility, and purpose, a career in community support could be the perfect fit.
