Duties

• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and engaging environment
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Support clients with medication reminders and monitor vital signs as needed, following care plans and safety protocols
• Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and maintaining a clean, safe living space
• Help clients with transportation for appointments, errands, or social outings using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
• Observe and report on clients’ health status, behavior changes, or safety concerns in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care protocols
• Follow established resident’s rights policies to ensure dignity, privacy, and respect for all individuals served

Skills

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly valued
• Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior promptly
• Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities support
• Ability to perform patient monitoring including vital signs measurement and medication administration under supervision
• Proficiency in caregiving tasks such as assisting with ADLs, manual handling, heavy lifting, and patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance to protect client confidentiality at all times
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams
• Basic first aid and CPR certification to ensure safety during emergencies
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is a plus
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities including meal prep, light cleaning, personal transportation assistance, and home & community care activities
