Scope of Responsibility

Responsible for the technical supervision, inspection, testing, commissioning, and safe execution of electrical cable installation works, including cable laying, jointing/termination, testing, connection to switchgear/panels, and energization activities up to 33 kV, in accordance with approved project requirements, TAQA Distribution requirements, applicable DoE regulations, electrical safety rules, approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and relevant IEC/BS standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Technical Supervision
• Supervise and control electrical cable installation activities up to 33 kV in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and applicable TAQA Distribution requirements.
• Review and verify approved Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, cable routing drawings, termination details, and equipment connection drawings prior to commencement of work.
• Ensure that all installation activities are performed by qualified and authorized personnel using approved materials, tools, and equipment.
• Cable Route & Installation
• Inspect cable routes, trenches, ducts, sleeves, supports, and containment systems prior to cable installation.
• Verify cable type, voltage rating, conductor size, insulation, screen/sheath arrangement, and cable identification against approved documents.
• Supervise cable drum handling, transportation, storage, positioning, and installation.
• Monitor cable pulling operations and ensure compliance with manufacturer's permissible pulling tension and minimum bending radius.
• Ensure correct cable formation, spacing, separation, cleating, support, mechanical protection, and identification.
• Verify that cable ends are properly sealed and protected against moisture, dust, and mechanical damage.
• Cable Termination & Jointing
• Supervise installation of approved cable termination and jointing kits in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
• Inspect cable preparation, insulation stripping, screen/sheath preparation, stress-control components, sealing components, and termination assembly.
• Verify correct installation and crimping of cable lugs using approved and calibrated tools.
• Verify gland installation, earthing/bonding, screen connections, phase identification, and required clearances.
• Ensure termination workmanship is free from contamination, moisture, mechanical damage, and other defects.
• Verify termination compatibility with the relevant switchgear, transformer, RMU, panel, or other electrical equipment.
• HV / Live Electrical Work Control
• Ensure electrical work is carried out strictly in accordance with applicable TAQA Distribution electrical safety procedures and approved work practices.
• Confirm correct identification of the circuit, feeder, cable, equipment, and termination point before commencement of work.
• Coordinate with authorized switching personnel for isolation, switching, testing, earthing, restoration, and energization activities.
• Ensure applicable Permit to Work (PTW), isolation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), earthing, and other electrical safety requirements are implemented.
• Maintain appropriate exclusion zones and ensure unauthorized personnel are prevented from entering restricted electrical work areas.
• Ensure that no work is performed on or near energized equipment unless specifically authorized under the applicable electrical safety procedure.
• Stop work immediately where unsafe conditions, incorrect circuit identification, unexpected voltage, defective equipment, or deviation from approved procedures is identified.
• Inspection & Quality Control
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the approved Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).
• Witness and verify cable installation, termination, jointing, earthing, labeling, and equipment connection activities.
• Review Inspection Requests (IRs), checklists, material approvals, calibration certificates, and inspection records.
• Identify defective workmanship and ensure corrective actions are completed before proceeding to subsequent activities.
• Raise or support NCRs/observations where work does not comply with approved requirements.
• Verify that only approved materials and accessories are incorporated into the installation.
• Cable Testing & Commissioning
• Coordinate and witness pre-commissioning and commissioning tests for installed cables and associated equipment.
• Review insulation resistance, continuity, sheath integrity, phase identification, and other applicable test results.
• Witness applicable HV cable tests such as AC/VLF withstand, tan delta, partial discharge, or other tests specified by the approved testing procedure.
• Verify that testing equipment has valid calibration certificates.
• Review and approve test reports for completeness and compliance with specified acceptance criteria.
• Ensure all test results are satisfactory before recommending the system for energization.

Pay: From AED3,000.00 per month
