About Us
Western Natural Resources (WNR) is a privately held, Oklahoma City–based oil and gas company focused on acquiring, developing, and operating high-quality upstream energy assets. Founded through a strategic partnership between Centalion and experienced energy leaders, WNR combines deep industry expertise, disciplined execution, and a long-term approach to building a premier energy company.
WNR is a rapidly growing organization with an entrepreneurial culture where collaboration, integrity, safety, and accountability are central to how we operate. As the company expands its asset base and team, employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work closely with experienced industry leaders, and help build the infrastructure and culture of a growing energy company.
Position Summary
WNR is seeking an experienced Completions Engineer to join our team supporting the development of our Haynesville Shale asset in North Louisiana and East Texas. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record designing and executing completions in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments and is equally comfortable building a frac design in the office and making real-time decisions on location. This role owns completion design, execution, and post-job evaluation for horizontal wells, working closely with drilling, production, reservoir, and operations teams to safely deliver top-tier well performance at competitive cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Design completions for long-lateral HPHT Haynesville wells
- Lead frac, wireline, coiled tubing, and drill-out operations in the field
- Select and qualify HPHT-rated equipment and materials
- Ensure casing and wellbore integrity during stimulation
- Develop AFEs, procedures, and job programs; manage costs against budget
- Manage service providers and vendor performance
- Analyze completion and production data to optimize future designs
- Promote a strong HSE culture and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with geology, reservoir, drilling, and production teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline
- 8+ years of completions engineering experience, with significant hands-on experience in HPHT unconventional wells (Haynesville strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in long-lateral horizontal wells
- Strong operational background, including field supervision of frac, wireline, coiled tubing, and drill-out operations
- Working knowledge of casing design, tubular stress analysis, and HPHT wellhead and pressure control equipment
- Comfort working with big data and machine learning tools to analyze completion performance and drive design decisions
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a small-team environment
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field locations as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Haynesville or other deep gas completion experience
- Experience with simul-frac, e-frac, and other efficiency-driven completion techniques
- Experience with refracs, offset frac-hit mitigation, and parent-child well interaction
- Familiarity with Louisiana and Texas regulatory requirements
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary + performance-based incentives
- Direct influence over completion strategy and well performance on a core Haynesville asset
- Flat, collaborative team structure with fast decision-making
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including sitting, standing, walking, communicating, and using standard office or job-related equipment. May require lifting, travel, working outdoors, or use of personal protective equipment.
